Privacy Policy
Last updated September 10, 2026
This policy explains what Dune Summit LLC ("SongDibs") collects when you use songdibs.com, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect what it takes to run song requests and get musicians paid, we don't sell it, and card numbers never touch our servers.
What we collect
From Artists (musicians with accounts)
- Account: email address, name, and sign-in credentials, managed by our authentication provider Clerk. We store your Clerk user ID and email so your band stays attached to you.
- Profile: stage name, handle, tagline, links you add, theme and accent choices, tip settings, and sign text. These are public on your request page.
- Library: your song list, chord charts, lyrics, notes, and any files you upload (PDFs, images, Guitar Pro). Charts and files are private to your account and are never shown to Fans.
- Gigs and activity: venues, dates, setlists, what was requested and played, and tip totals.
- Payments: your Stripe connected-account ID and whether it can accept charges. Your identity documents, bank details, and tax information go directly to Stripe; we never see them.
From Fans (people scanning a QR)
- Request details: the song, tip amount, and any first name, shoutout, or message you type. Names and shoutouts may be shown on the Artist's devices and on venue screens; messages are shown only to the Artist.
- Payment: handled entirely by Stripe in your browser. We receive a payment identifier and status, never your card number.
- A device cookie (a random ID) so we can cap the number of open requests from one phone per gig. It contains no personal information.
- Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, and pages requested, used for security and rate limiting.
We do not ask Fans to create an account, and we do not collect email addresses or phone numbers from Fans.
How we use it
- To run the service: show the song list, queue requests, process holds and charges, display the stage and TV views, and pay Artists.
- To keep it working and safe: rate limiting, abuse prevention, profanity filtering, debugging.
- To communicate with Artists about their account, billing, and important changes.
- We do not sell personal information and do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers, each bound to use data only to provide their service to us:
- Clerk (authentication, subscriptions)
- Stripe (payments, payouts, identity verification for Artists)
- Neon (database hosting) and Vercel (application and file hosting)
- Apple (iTunes Search API, queried by Artists when adding songs, to fetch titles and artwork)
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or as part of a business transfer.
Cookies
We use cookies for signed-in sessions (Clerk), the Fan device cookie described above, and remembering display preferences such as theme and stage settings on your device. We don't use advertising cookies.
Retention
Artist data is kept while the account is active. Closing your account removes your profile, library, and gigs; payment records are retained by Stripe under its own policies and as required for tax and accounting. Fan request records are kept as part of the Artist's gig history.
Your choices
- Artists can edit or delete songs, charts, and gigs at any time, and can close their account by contacting us.
- Fans can leave the name field blank to stay anonymous.
- You may request a copy or deletion of your personal data by contacting support@songdibs.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
SongDibs is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Artists must be 18 or older.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you, we will notify you as required by law.
Changes and contact
We'll post updates here with a new date. Questions: support@songdibs.com. See also our Terms of Service.
